SPACe L – Autonomous Cabin

Live your life, uninterrupted, with autonomous vehicles – where travel time becomes family time, quality time, catch-up-on-work time, live-your-life time.

You will soon be able to continue with your life—uninterrupted—even as you travel from Point A to Point B in this Living Space Cabin created for future autonomous driving. Advanced, human-centric sensor technology contributes to a comfortable, intuitive space that caters to your needs.

Consumer behavior and other market fundamentals are changing. Today, people don’t have a car for every scenario so they compromise—a well-used pick-up truck that also functions as wheels to a black-tie symphony gala; a sports car that also shuttles kids to school. In an era of autonomous driving, expect to see vehicles become adaptive space that meets any need: a mobile living room, a relaxation zone and entertainment center or an office on wheels. The very act of driving recedes to the background, while life—individual interests, needs and responsibilities—move to the forefront.

Automotive and space creation technologies come together

With the prototype autonomous vehicle, Panasonic is combining expertise in space creation with automotive technologies such as biometric monitoring, facial and gesture recognition, imaging and security, as well as innovations in lighting, air quality management and other cabin amenities. In this luxury cabin space, lighting and sound adjust to suit personal preferences and mood, and every seat can control its own climate. Want to relax? Turn on the cabin’s aromatherapy. Or find the right music. Panasonic is collaborating with the Berliner Philharmoniker to create the sound of a concert hall for the car of the future.

Prefer shopping over the symphony?

The car window turns into a movie screen and an interactive display for online shopping. Productivity is at your fingertips as the seat automatically converts to an individual office space. A movable screen rises to give an occupant a chance to make video conference calls—with high-quality sound—out of earshot of the other passengers.

An uninterrupted ride with all the bells and whistles

On display: a model of a Living Space Cabin. Come aboard the L5 cabin concept.  Experience an array of audio/visual systems, sensors, telematics and wellness technology, all from the comfort of a vehicle that feels like a living room.
