In February, Panasonic Energy leadership welcomed U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and US Representative Sharice Davids, who represents De Soto and the surrounding area in Congress.

“Ask any global company in the EV supply chain why they are choosing to open a new facility in the U.S. and you will hear about the investments we are making – the infrastructure law, the climate and jobs law and other good policies as among the decisive factors,” Sec. Buttigieg said in his remarks. “Panasonic is a fantastic example of what is possible.”

In March, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly surveyed progress the construction teams had made since she helped break ground on the site exactly four months earlier. Gov. Kelly and Lt. Gov. David Toland were celebrating the second straight year that Kansas ranked first in the nation in private investment per capita with 138 deals.

“Our trophy case is getting full,” Gov. Kelly said, “but believe me: This new era of economic growth is just getting started. We will continue our efforts to build a strong workforce, attract young people to the state and maintain a stable economy so that companies in Kansas and around the world know that we are a reliable partner.”
