Acting with urgency
Over 1 billion people across the world use Panasonic products every day. That’s a big number, and it comes with an even bigger responsibility. Roughly 1% of global CO2 emissions from electricity consumption come from the use or manufacturing of our products. Addressing this issue begins with taking responsibility for our own role in the ongoing climate crisis. We call our contributions to this effort Panasonic GREEN IMPACT.
Panasonic GREEN IMPACT by the numbers
By 2024, we will:
- Create more net-zero factories.
- Recycle nearly all factory waste.
- Double our use of recycled resin.
- Nearly triple the number of our businesses that fit into the circular economy model.
By 2030, we will:
- Achieve net-zero in-house emissions.
- Reduce CO2 emissions from our own value chain by 110 million tons.
By 2050, we will:
- Reduce CO2 emissions from our own value chain and those of society by 300 million tons, or 1% of current global emissions, through products, services and new technologies that help others avoid emissions.

Rethinking how we move
Transportation makes up roughly 16.2% of global greenhouse emissions*.
As the world’s largest supplier of EV batteries, Panasonic is working to lower costs and increase production to meet the growing demand for this technology.

Residential energy contributes roughly 11% of energy-related emissions*.
Solar energy reduces greenhouse gases, improves air quality and limits water use in energy production. Our products are making it easier than ever to harness the power of the sun.
Rethinking how we work
Factories are responsible for roughly 24% of energy-related emissions*.
We’re testing alternative methods to fuel our factories to keep us moving toward a carbon-free future.

Panasonic believes that all businesses must approach manufacturing and business practices differently.
At Panasonic, we’re constantly exploring new technologies such as lighter, more powerful solar panels that can be used by more people in more places. We won’t stop until renewable energy is available to everyone.

Panasonic products are built to last. To help create a more sustainable future, we must now design products with their end in mind—ensuring that they can be reused and refurbished to avoid the permanent loss of precious resources.
Because prevailing business systems are linear and create unnecessary waste, we’re advocating for a circular economy model that regenerates end-of-life products to eliminate waste, safeguard resources and reduce pollution.
As we deepen our commitment to sustainability, we’re asking ourselves these questions to continuously hold ourselves accountable.
