Videographer Rick Allen Purchases AG-UX180 4K Handheld Camcorders for Projects Celebrating Arts and Artists

After decades of working with mega-wattage stars in his career  as a portrait photographer and advanced retoucher, Minnesota-based videographer Rick Allen has undertaken a wide-ranging video campaign promoting the work of fledgling artists. His camera is the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K camcorder.

Now working as a freelance videographer with Creative Images (St. Paul, MN), Allen envisions this project as a way to give back to the community, specifically to help aspiring creatives portray themselves and build brand imagery in ways that will foster their emerging careers.

“The nature of the project necessitated simplifying the logistics--and cost--of production while maintaining the highest possible quality,” he noted. “The UX180 perfectly fit the bill with its expan-sive controls, UHD 60p recording, 20x zoom, absolutely terrific OIS and ease of use.”

Since purchasing the UX180 early this year, Allen has used it to short a number of short “art” pro-jects for up-and-coming producers, musicians, dancers and other performers, as well as to quick-ly capture video for storyboarding larger productions.

Allen said he typically shoots UHD 60p MOV as it gives him “the widest latitude for post-production,” using Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro and, occasionally, Motion 5 for effects.
