Panasonic Announces Slim, Stylish Wall-Mountable Home Theater Systems At 2014 International CES

January 6, 2014 (Las Vegas, NV) – Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company today announced the 2014 lineup of wall-mountable bar-style home theater systems which includes three slim, stylish models that complement a users home.  The SC-HTB880, SC-HTB580 and SC-HTB8 Home Theater Systems are equipped with advanced audio technology to recreate a true-to-life audio experience.  All three models will be available later this year on

“Panasonic has recognized the importance of bar-style home theater systems for both their design and audio functionalities,” said David Fisher, Product Manager, Home Entertainment, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.  “This year, we have expanded our lineup, building upon past sound technology to deliver exceptional 5.1-channel surround sound in our SC-HTB880 model and enhancing audio functions like Clear-mode Dialog, to enhance the home theater experience for users.”

The SC-HTB880, SC-HTB580 and SC-HTB8 Home Theater Systems feature speaker units with a triangular cross section to achieve a slim body size, and incorporate a Delta Form Design to deliver dynamic sound. The top panel of each model’s main unit is inclined to provide extra space inside for the installation of large speaker units. The Delta Form Design provides a stylish appearance to match and enhance room interiors, while its hybrid hardware design achieves superb sound quality.

The Panasonic SC-HTB880 premium model features a 4K Pass Through function to feed 4K video signals directly from a Blu-ray Disc™ player, allowing viewers to easily match their high-resolution 4K television viewing experience with superb sound quality. The SC-HTB880's main unit houses the front, center and surround speakers; combined with the wireless subwoofer, this model's sound system delivers 5.1-channel dynamic surround sound. This premium model incorporates the LincsD-Amp 2nd generation, which boasts a performance level that rivals many high-end amps. It reduces jitter noise generated in the playback of digital data to the lowest possible level to reproduce clear sounds faithful to the original.

The Panasonic SC-HTB880 and SC-HTB580 are enhanced with Clear-mode Dialog, a highly acclaimed function in previous models which achieves true-to-life ambience by making the dialog in a TV program or movie seem to come from the center of the TV screen, instead of from the center speaker. All three home theater system models also have a revamped linkage function with a TV, Blu-ray Disc or DVD player and smartphone. The Near Field Communication (NFC) function (featured in the HTB880 and HTB580) simplifies Bluetooth® pairing with an NFC-compatible smartphone. A user need only wave their smartphone over the One-touch Connection mark to establish a connection, eliminating the need for going through cumbersome screen settings.

The new models combine Panasonic's sound-enhancing technologies, cutting-edge network technologies and stylish designs to achieve versatile sound systems, creating true-to-life ambience from content such as movies, TV programs or music to make users feel as if they were actually in the movie scene or in a concert hall.

The new Panasonic SC-HTB880, SC-HTB580 and SC-HTB8 Home Theater Systems will be available on and select retailers later this year.  For additional information, please visit the Panasonic CES website,, or
