Panasonic Announces Autism Sprint Car Sponsorship to Raise Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness

Funded by Panasonic, the Autism Sprint Car Will Compete in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia

Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America, Division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, today announced its sponsorship of the Autism Sprint car which will compete in the Carolina Sprint Tour and Virginia Sprint Series in an effort to raise awareness around autism spectrum disorder.

What began as a small project started by then fourteen-year-old Ben McCall has now expanded into a three-state awareness campaign. By wrapping a sprint car with the autism awareness puzzle design, Ben began raising money for autism by selling placements for a child’s name on each of the car’s puzzle pieces. From there, he began selling merchandise, and now, he’s backed by Panasonic’s document and imaging product group.

“When Ben’s mission was brought to our attention, we were touched by his dedication and wanted to find a way to supplement his hard work,” said Joseph Odore, product manager of document and imaging product group at Panasonic System Solutions Company. “Panasonic sponsored the Autism Sprint car to support the millions of children and adults who live with autism each day. By raising awareness, we hope to educate people about a condition that affects so many and become one step closer universal understanding and acceptance.”

Sponsored by Panasonic, the new, full-sized Autism Sprint car now gives the Autism Sprint team the ability to compete at larger tracks, which gives the car and its message greater visibility. During the Carolina Sprint Tour and Virginia Sprint Series races, the team will spread autism awareness to a larger audience than ever before.

“With Panasonic's help, we hope to touch many more lives,” said Ben McCall, driver of the Autism Sprint car. “Watching a small fan see the car for the first time, climb into it and talk to me one-on-one has proven that this car is really making a difference. We cannot thank Panasonic enough for believing in us and what we are doing.”
