ELS Studio 3D® Premium Audio System

An immersive 3D audio experience tuned by Grammy Award winner Elliot Scheiner brings studio sound to Acura.
How a Grammy legend helps Acura deliver transformative sound
In a quest to recreate the true music studio experience for motorists, Grammy Award-winning producer and audio engineer Elliot Scheiner teamed up with Panasonic to create the ELS Studio 3D car sound system. Named Business Insider's “Audio System of the Year,” the ELS Studio 3D boasts 16 speakers, 16 channels and 710 watts. Sound created from conventional speaker locations is disrupted by many reflections, but not in this car. The system's Highline® Ultra Slim overhead speakers send more direct sound to all passengers—achieving purity and clarity of reproduction. This helps to create a full-360-degree envelope of sound by adding a vertical dimension to the listening experience.

The system also includes titanium dome tweeters for stunning vocal reproduction. Its Super Low Distortion Driver for the subwoofers delivers low end performance with extended bass to 40Hz with low saturation and distortion. The Super Dynamic Range speakers also reduce distortion while extending range to eliminate saturation. These speakers, along with the Highline overheads, are powered by a 712 watt, 16-channel DSP power amplifier results in enhanced detail and definition. Panasonic’s proprietary Acoustic Motion Control™ technology reduces distortion and enhances performance.
At the CES booth, listeners who enter the new Acura RDX experience a system crafted by the Grammy legend behind the sound of Beyonce, The Eagles, Faith Hill, Sting, Foo Fighters, Van Morrison and Steely Dan, to name a few. “The goal of the system is to provide an emotional experience, let the user hear what the artists and I hear in the studio,” said Scheiner, who has shaped the unique sound in tens of thousands of Acura vehicles sold every year.
