Cellular-connectivity and EV tech deliver the freedom of motorcycling to the next generation of riders

Panasonic’s expertise in connected vehicles helps Harley-Davison as it leads the electrification of motorcycling. LiveWire is the first mass-market cellular connected eMotorcycle in North America, featuring a complete, modern suite of rider aids, connectivity and exciting performance.

North America’s first connected, full-size eMotorcyle

Panasonic Automotive is thrilled to expand our legacy of two-wheel mobility by partnering with Harley-Davidson to drive the eMotorcycle revolution. As the leading global supplier of automotive infotainment and vehicle connectivity systems, we empower smart, enjoyable and eco-responsible mobility that is redefining the future of transportation. Panasonic is leveraging our proficiency in connected vehicles and systems such as OneConnect® and providing connectivity technology on the Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the only mass-market cellular-connected electric motorcycle in North America.

Smart. Accessible. Electric.
Launching this August, LiveWire takes the two-wheel experience to the next level with its no clutch, no shifting, agile and easy-to-maneuver features. Panasonic Automotive connects the rider to their motorcycle through a cellular connection to the telematics control unit utilizing our OneConnect® service. The OneConnect® service complements the latest version of the Harley-Davidson™ App and the new Harley-Davidson Connect™ service. Together, the systems link LiveWire riders with their motorcycle through their smartphone providing features such as motorcycle status, tamper alerts, vehicle location and service reminders and notifications.

Panasonic technology provides next-gen convenience and peace of mind to motorcyclists, enabling proactive vehicle maintenance, better performance and the freedom to enjoy the ride. LiveWire is Harley-Davidson’s first step towards a connected future. The eMotorcycle is designed to lead its plans to populate travel options by 2022 with a portfolio of lighter, smaller and even more-accessible electric vehicles to adapt to a future that demands more diverse urban mobility offerings. Panasonic Automotive plans to grow its presence in the two-wheeled EV space with technology to include cloud services and data analytics, energy solutions and in-vehicle infotainment.

Just twist the throttle and go
Visitors to our CES booth are invited to mount an actual LiveWire and take it for a virtual “test ride” to get a feel for how easy it is to maneuver – just twist the throttle and go! This street-ready eMotorcyle is securely fastened to a Harley-Davidson JUMPSTART platform that powers the bike as footage of an urban roadway projects onto a screen over the handlebars, giving non-riders and new riders a new outlook on the Harley riding experience.
