AW-HE42: PRO PTZ Camera

AW-HE42

The AW-HE42 PRO PTZ remote camera is designed to produce great results in a variety of applications that require high-quality video and precise control—such as event capture, staging, distance learning, lecture capture, livestreaming and more. Thanks to the precision 20x optical zoom lens, a wide field of view, smooth pan/tilt/zoom functions and exceptional image quality, HE42 cameras are ideal for demanding remote video productions and IMAG use. With IP preview transmission and control, support for PoE+ (which allows power to be supplied via a LAN cable), and versatile control / workflow options, the HE42 also offers the flexibility needed for easy installation and management.

1/2.3" MOS Sensor

The AW-HE42 PRO PTZ camera is equipped with a 1/2.3-type MOS sensor and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for high sensitivity and high resolution video production. The HE42 delivers an impressive signal-to-noise ratio, 1000 TV lines of resolution and 16-axis color matrix control for precise camera painting and matching.

20x Optical Zoom Lens

aw-he42 - 1

In addition to its high-performance 20x optical zoom, ultra-high-resolution technology has enabled intelligent camera zoom of up to 30x, while maintaining high resolution. This enables capture of crisp close-ups, even in large auditoriums and lecture halls. The camera can also be set with 12x digital zoom*5, or 1.4, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0 or 8.0 digital extender zoom options.

Optical Image Stabilization

Shaky video is heavily reduced with both optical (O.I.S) and digital 4-axis automatic image stabilization that detects mounting surface vibration that may be caused by audio equipment and opening/closing doors. The AW-HE42 optimizes for shooting stability, wherever it may be mounted.

Quad Drive Lens System

quad drive lens system

The AW-HE42 is equipped with a powerful Quad Drive Lens System, featuring three zoom lenses and one focus lens which are all driven independently, yet simultaneously. Driving each of the four lenses individually enables a reduced lens size and drive range, allowing for a smaller camera body size with exceptional quality zoom and incredible image magnification.

External Sync Signal

The AW-HE42 robotic camera is also equipped with an external sync signal*1 input connector (genlock) as well as BBS (Black Burst Sync) and tri-level sync.

HDMI, SDI, USB & LAN

aw-he42 inputs outputs

Full HD video output is enabled with HDMI, SDI, USB and LAN cable compatibility.

Pro Protection Plans

Exceptional standard warranty, service and support, with enhanced service and warranty packages available. Our PRO PROTECTION Premium plan provides you with the peace of mind of accidental damage coverage up to $7,000 for the lifetime of the product. Learn More

Night Mode

night mode

For shooting in virtually total darkness, the AW-HE42's Night Mode makes it possible to automatically switch to the capture of high-quality, HD monochrome video with the use of an (optional) IR illuminator in the 850nm range, making the camera ideal for reality show production, sleep lab research, wildlife documentaries and staging support. The camera can be set to switch to the mode manually or automatically depending on surrounding light levels.

Optical ND Filter

Equipped with a motorized optical ND (neutral density) filter wheel allows the AW-HE42 to be utilized in varied lighting environments.

HDR Mode

hdr mode

The AW-HE42 already includes many innovative standard features developed to expand the capabilities of professional video system users. In addition to Panasonic's Dynamic Range Stretch (DRS) and advanced Digital Noise Reduction (DNR), an ingenious High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode helps to produce very good video even in extreme contrast and lighting conditions. When shooting and synthesizing two images with differing exposure times, the HE42 can create video that corrects for halation and black defects, even under backlit conditions.

PoE+

The AW-HE42 embraces the Power of Ethernet+ (PoE+) technology for easier system installation and setup.

Freeze During Preset

The freeze during preset playback function is great for single-camera operations, allowing for clean preset transitions. Setup your shot, freeze the video, make your preset transition without it going live, and return to the live video. Perfect for situations where you're streaming live directly without a switcher.

Preset Memory

Equipped with a JPEG Image Saving function that enables camera video to be saved, played back and deleted on a microSD card as still JPEG images.

Smooth Pan/Tilt

The pan range of ±175° and the tilt range of -30° to +90° cover a wide shooting area. Pan and tilt operate at a maximum speed of 90°/second and respond quickly to remote control operation.

Whisper Quiet Operation

The AW-HE42 operates super quietly at a sound level of NC35 or even lower. This allows use of a remote camera in a house of worship, lecture hall, museum or any venue where noise could be distracting to the audience or performers.

Innovative Design

Integrating the full components of a professional camera, adding the mechanics of panning/tilting and keeping it in a small form factor is no small task, but our engineering team has been able to do it without compromise. Along with input from the forward-thinking Consultants, Architects and Designers working on the projects of today and tomorrow, our product design team has embraced their inspiration to craft a camera that fits in a wide range of environments. In turn, our PRO PTZ cameras have been carefully sculpted with minimalistic lines, sleek chiseled corners, and reserved styling, allowing them to be unobtrusive where installed, yet pleasing to the eye when seen. With included cable clamps and cable covers, we help keep your installed camera clean and tidy. Pick the color that matches your space, with a choice of Pearl White or Metallic Black and matching wall mount accessories.

Connected professional Interfacing for all sorts of remote production

Video Outputs: Standard professional interfaces include 3G-SDI, as well as IP/Network for single cable delivery of high-quality content up to 1080/60i. Serial Control: RS-422 serial compatibility is available for serial-based control workflows (i.e. connection to AW-RP150, AW-RP50/120 or previous controllers). RS-232 and RS-422 VISCA protocol is available when introducing a Panasonic camera into an existing control structure.

NDI|HX Compatibility for Excellent Video Streaming Quality

The AW-HE42W/K can be upgraded to an NDI | HX compatible model if purchasing a license from the 4K/HD Integrated Camera NewTek NDI HX Support Information. Highly efficient NDI | HX compatibility enables excellent broadcast streaming by encoding and transmitting high-quality video in real time. This technology eliminates the need for IP decoders, allowing input to be sent directly to the switcher. Available NDI|HX upgrade (a technology of NewTek Inc.) for the ultimate single cable production workflow with ultra low latency video, audio, control, tally, and power over a single cable.

Audio Input Function

The AW-HE42W/K also supports audio input, embedding and encoding. Audio output to IP is also supported. The ALC (Audio Automatic Level Control) in the AW-HE42W/K can be switched ON/OFF and an equalizer function can be used. By reducing low-frequency sound from air conditioners, projectors, and other devices, it is possible to emphasize and increase the clarity of the spoken words. Audio Input: Audio input and embedding (on IP, HDMI) are also available via a switchable, stereo MIC/LINE input.

MicroSD Card Recording Function*7

Camera video and audio can be recorded in MP4 format on microSD card (sold separately) inserted into the unit. In addition, using an IP network, it is possible to externally control recording start/stop and download the recorded files.

Full HD Video Output Via IP Transmission

IP transmission as well as HDMI, SDI and USB output are supported to enable IP video output of up to 60 frames per second. Multi-streaming output (H.264 streaming) of up to four channels*8 per camera and video transmission to up to 14 terminals are supported*9, enabling a variety of system layouts as needed for the application. By default, the camera has a built-in H.264/MJPEG encoder for 7 channels of encoding up to 25Mbps. Pair with a supported hardware or software decoder.
