Panasonic Projector & Display Americas to Provide Projection Technology for 2025 LUMA Projection Arts Festival

Panasonic continues its commitment to powering Binghamton’s premier projection mapping event, blending world-class artistry with community engagement
August 26, 2025

NEWARK, N.J., – August 26, 2025 – Panasonic Projector & Display Americas LLC (PPNDA) today announced it will once again serve as the Exclusive Projection Technology Sponsor for the LUMA Projection Arts Festival, the nation’s leading projection mapping celebration. The festival, which transforms downtown Binghamton, N.Y. into a breathtaking outdoor art gallery, will take place September 5-6, 2025 and feature both large-scale international works and grassroots community projects brought to life using Panasonic’s advanced 4K RQ Series and FRQ60 Series projectors.

This year’s festival continues LUMA’s mission to merge innovative technology with compelling storytelling while fostering economic, cultural, and educational impact. In addition to featuring large-scale works from renowned international artists, LUMA will showcase “Small Works” installations – intimate projection mapping pieces by U.S.-based creators – tucked into unexpected corners of the city.

The Living Lights Project also invites local high school students and other first-time projection mappers in the community to have their original works displayed on downtown buildings. This way, artists without a background in 3D animation software can participate in the festival and learn more about the projection mapping process. Local students will also have the opportunity to enjoy a behind-the-scenes STEM tour led by the festival’s technical directors to learn more about bringing the festival to life.

“LUMA is more than just an art festival – it’s an economic driver, a cultural anchor, and a showcase of how cutting-edge technology can inspire and engage a community,” said Jared M. Kraham, Mayor of Binghamton. “Events like LUMA bring visitors, revenue, and energy to our city while also creating opportunities for local students and artists to explore the intersection of creativity and innovation.”

Festival organizers rely on Panasonic’s projection technology to deliver bright, crisp imagery for the intricate, large-scale works that define LUMA. Technical directors, many of whom began as festival volunteers, now lead projection mapping efforts and apply their expertise at universities and other organizations across the area.

“Our continued collaboration with LUMA reflects our belief that technology should not only push the boundaries of visual storytelling, but also make it more accessible,” said Taka Uchida, CEO of Panasonic Projector & Display Americas. “By equipping both world-class artists and first-time creators with our projector technology, we’re thrilled to help transform an entire city into a canvas for innovation, imagination, and community pride.”

“Over the past decade, LUMA has helped spark a wave of projection mapping innovation throughout New York, inspiring large-scale displays that bring the community together,” said Tice Lerner, Co-Founder and Creative Director for LUMA Projection Arts Festival. “We’re proud to see this form of artistic expression flourish and are grateful for our continued partnership with Panasonic to bring these unforgettable experiences to life.”

The 2025 festival is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees, with immersive installations spread across downtown Binghamton’s historic buildings and public spaces. Highlights will include interactive works that integrate live music, AI-generated visuals, and sensor-based projections, alongside powerful narrative-driven pieces that explore themes of nature, mythology, and human connection.

The LUMA Festival kicks off two months after Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show on the Brooklyn Bridge, showcasing the various ways projection mapping technology can bring communities together through visual storytelling.
