Panasonic Helps Canadians get healthy, fast with steam and combination cooking that delivers on taste and nutrition

Panasonic Canada introduces versatile new Steam Convection Oven featuring intelligent steam technology and 4 in 1 cooking techniques all in a stylish design

A healthy kitchen revolution has arrived with the new Panasonic NN-CS896S Steam Convection Oven – a first in its class, versatile combination oven that harnesses the power of steam, convection, grilling and microwave power to create perfectly cooked, delicious, and nutritious meals, fast. Packed with innovative features and 4 in 1 cooking functions, Panasonic’s easy-to-use, modern design will change the way Canadians prepare their meals, whether it is a gourmet feast or quick, weekday nosh.

“As a busy mom and nutrition expert, I love that I can make a variety of different foods using my Panasonic Oven without sacrificing nutrition or taste,” says Joy McCarthy, certified holistic nutritionist (CNP) and best-selling author of Joyous Health. “Steam cooking is one of the best ways to keep all the natural and delicious goodness of the nutrients intact, by retaining flavour, and taking less time to prepare. Healthy meal prep is a priority in my home and now it’s even easier.”

Get Healthy, Fast with Steam, Convection and Combination Cooking
The new Steam Convection Oven’s proprietary High-Density Turbo Steam makes it easy to prepare delicious, healthy, oil-free dishes that retain moisture and important nutrients. It uses professional grade technology that delivers 100% pure steam from a high-efficiency boiler unit to quickly and efficiently cook a wide range of ingredients.

In addition to steam, split-level convection cooking allows simultaneous two-level cooking that optimizes meal prep time. This, along with a powerful fan circulating hot air within the oven produces a quicker, more even cooking result – ideal for roasting or baking larger meals.

The Panasonic Steam Convection Oven is a multi-tasker in the kitchen when it comes to combining cooking functions simultaneously. Cutting-edge microwave power cooks food quickly while steam, convection and grilling power can provide traditional browning, crispness or baking capabilities. All of this can take place at the same time, significantly speeding up cooking times without impacting on quality or taste.

“I have created a delicious menu of healthy recipes using the Panasonic Steam Convection Oven, including a rich Quinoa Chocolate Walnut Cake, Arctic Char with a Tamari Ginger Marinade and Kale Chips, and savoury Sweet Potato Hummus with Rosemary Almond Flatbread,” said Joy. “These meals are not only full of nourishing nutrients including vitamins and minerals, they are also incredibly flavourful.”

Whether the recipe calls for one function or combination cooking, the Panasonic Steam Convection Oven offers a wide range of pre-set cooking options that take the guesswork out and keep the nutrients in. Auto Cook settings (19 total) use steam, convection or grilling in combination with microwave cooking to deliver perfectly cooked and crispy fish; delicious and tender roast beef, lamb and poultry; and nutrient packed, fresh veggies. Sensor Cook microwave options (19 total) quickly and easily cook favourite foods, from quinoa, brown rice, and oatmeal to omelettes, soup and pasta.

The Days of Buttons and Knobs Are Over
Thanks to the Panasonic Steam Convection Oven’s modern look and smart technology, Canadians don’t have to forgo form for function. The oven boasts an intuitive touch-control panel with blue LED display and ‘Swipe & Touch’ user interface. Easily swipe to scroll through menus and cooking options, tap for precise times and techniques, and press and hold to easily increase or decrease settings. These beautifully finished controls are incorporated into the door itself, enabling the front of the microwave to be constructed with a single, tinted sheet of glass.

Measuring 494mm W x 438mm D x 390mm H, the 1.2 cu. ft. Panasonic Steam Convection Oven features a steel frame, ergonomically designed handle, and a pull down door for conventional oven-style access. It also incorporates a flatbed design, rather than a turntable, using a microwave antenna hidden in the base of the oven that rotates during use. This innovation results in a 45 per cent larger cooking area compared to conventional turntable models; it also allows dishes of all shapes and sizes to fit inside.

For added convenience, fingerprint resistant stainless steel and a self-cleaning mode to keep inside surfaces looking spotless has been incorporated into the design. The interior has a proprietary coating to prevent splashed and burnt food from sticking.

The Panasonic Steam Convection Oven can be used on the countertop or built-in for a streamlined, modern look using an optional trim kit. It has an MSRP of $1,499.99 and is available at retailers nationwide and via Panasonic’s eStore.
