Panasonic & Georgian International

Nestled in an enclave of Blue Mountain on Georgian Bay is an exclusive new community, Mountain House at Windfall. The development is a collection of 230 modern suites in artful low-rise buildings that embody chalet-style design and enjoy world-class amenities including warm and cold pools, an outdoor wood-burning fireplace and a sauna. Featuring contemporary open-concept layouts, private terraces, and sophisticated finishes and appliances, the suites exemplify the best of resort chalet living.

Mountain House at Windfall is a high-end community set in the centre of the exclusive town of Blue Mountain near the slopes and right beside the world-class Scandinave Spa. A ski resort town, Blue Mountain thrives on a tourist and recreational living economy. Current and prospective homeowners and residents are boomers looking for a relaxing place to downsize and enjoy their golden years; and young and middle-aged singles, couples and families seeking a second property to take full advantage of the leisure opportunities at Blue Mountain.

Challenges

Georgian International needed to exceed the needs and desires of prospective homeowners in the market for an executive property in a select location within a luxury community. This required the best of the best in everything from the exterior finishes to the built-in microwave.

Solutions

Georgian International chose five sleek, modern Panasonic appliances for the Mountain House at Windfall suites: a 30-inch wide refrigerator with high storage capacity; a 30-inch over-the-range microwave with direct vent exhaust fan that effortlessly economized overhead space; a panel-ready dishwasher that seamlessly adopted the look of the cabinetry; a 24-inch wall oven; and a 24-inch induction cooktop that boasts functionality equal to a traditional cooktop.

Results

The high quality and innovative design of the appliances inspired excitement in the project for everyone.
“Panasonic doesn’t just sit back and become comfortable with the products that they have. They’re very innovative and they try to keep pushing forward. They’re always considering our end-user and our homeowner, and we just felt Panasonic had the best products to offer,” says Mike Parker, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Georgian International.

Mountain House at Windfall

This inspired new community is a project of Georgian International, which partnered with Panasonic to outfit the kitchen with style and luxury in mind. This case study explores the challenge, solution and results of this partnership from the perspectives and experiences of the designers and decision-makers.

“We consider Mountain House at Windfall a high-end project. Where it sits on 10 acres of land among gorgeous views and landscapes is truly remarkable,” explains Parker. “When we were considering Panasonic kitchen appliances for the units, we really had that same expectation that it was going to be high-end.”

While style, elegance and functionality were paramount, efficient use of space was also a consideration. The Mountain House at Windfall community offers contemporary open-concept suites in one-bedroom plus den, two-bedroom, two-bedroom plus loft and three-bedroom layout options, with each unit ranging between 673 and 1,140 square feet. The layouts were expertly designed to maximize space, catering to homeowners looking for an easy-to-main property that has all the features and convenience of a large house.

“As a designer, I was looking for an innovative solution that would work with the modern design that we’re envisioning for the project,” says Danielle Jacques, Interior Designer for Georgian International. “Smart living comes through smart design. We spent a lot of time considering all aspects of the design of the Mountain House suites and we expect that our homeowners will want the best functionality for the space provided.”

The Panasonic Solution

Parker, Jacques and their colleagues visited Panasonic’s showroom to meet with the Panasonic team and evaluate their appliance suite. The teams worked together to find the best appliances that fit the Euro kitchen design aesthetic Georgian International was creating.

“We really felt that Panasonic offered some great smaller products without sacrificing functionality,” says Parker of Georgian International’s reasoning behind selecting Panasonic as their partner for kitchen appliances.
